A journey of discovery…

Video sneak peek at gameplay explanation of Dawn

G’day guys,

Just a quick update today to upload a video demonstration of some of the gameplay in Dawn – Rise of the Occulites.

I hope you enjoy watching it and that it sparks further interest in the game for you. Any questions, feedback or comments are gratefully received. πŸ™‚

Please note that the Natural Selection Deck in the video is just for playtesting. On release the Natural Selection Deck will be printed as a proper card deck.

Very cool to see a round of gameplay, I like the look of the game quite a bit!

One question, on effect cards – after a combat, who plays their effect card first? Is it determined by who was the attacker and who was the defender, or perhaps winner v. loser?

      Thanks Tom. πŸ™‚
Good question. There is no order. If you want to play an effect card, you just announce it. You will often want to see what you’re opponent plays before you do and a lot of the effects are resolved in or before combat (and so order doesn’t matter).
In the video, it would have been wise to have played TRIP before STEAL to avoid getting the Sungem stolen in the first place (you can’t play effect cards when you are prone).

I am however having a look at putting in some sort of order simply for “After a Combat” triggers. At the moment I am thinking of allowing the player that played the highest Natural Selection Deck card to have the first opportunity, with a tie being broken by the winner of the combat.

  2. Just been through the video and thought of a few things that I have put on the forum http://riseoftheocculites.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dawndiscussion&action=post&thread=25&page=1 .

Need to play the game ASAP to stop asking daft things that will be cleared up in the rules πŸ™‚

Can we see more of your board and how you made it please?

Thanks Andrew πŸ™‚ Have answered on the forum.

I would be happy to post more photos of the board if you like. I’m about to make another one, so maybe I can do a step by step article for the blog on how I’ve done it.
Was there anything in particular you were interested in?
